This is a great homage to the ‘Mighty Flighty’ / Seiko Flightmaster. I opted for this blue dial as I find it the best legible. The other options are in black, green, grey and white. Not only do I like the looks but also the fact that the YM62A caliber has an alarm subdial at the 6 o’clock position. It can be used either as an alarm ringing once in the upcoming 12 hours or as a dual time zone. With its diameter of 41.8mm, a thickness of 12.9mm and a lug-to-lug of 48mm it occupies quite some ‘real estate’ on the wrist. However, due to the steep downward angles of the lugs it still fits nicely on my small 17cm wrist. I like the six positions micro-adjustment of the clasp. However, the bracelet itself is of lesser quality compared to the watch case itself. It’s a bit too rickety to my taste and the clasp had some really sharp edges. Nothing that couldn’t be solved with some careful filing with a small metal file.
Only a few chrono’s have a water resistance of 200m, which is an additional plus. Lume is bright and last for at least six hours. Probably longer, but I sleep only 6-7 hours a night.

All in all a lot of watch for your buck! And if you’re in doubt – as I was about the fit – I strongly recommend booking an appointment for a visit to SW. Yes, I know ... It’s in the Netherlands and in Drachten of all places. Still, the reception and service are outstanding and will make it worth your while.

Great fit and finish! The blue on the dial is nice and muted, good match with the bezel. However, the dial and bezel is quite busy, but that is the way these watches are - you have to like that style to enjoy this watch. The bracelet is good, but the clasp would be even better with on the fly adjustment. But overall, a cool watch, and no complaints:)

Ik was al een tijdje op zoek naar een flightmaster, maar toen Islander zijn model uitbracht was ik overtuigd. Nu ik het in handen heb, aangenaam uurwerk, draagt ook lekker, zelfs al is het niet het dunste horloge. Wel gemiste kans om geen quick adapt op de clasp te voorzien. Denk dat ik wel een andere Islander zou aan de collectie durven toevoegen.
