Okay, so this is a watch that I missed the release of by two days and found it was sold out. There were only 60 of these made. I decided to chase it and luckily Serious Watches had my back (extremely abbreviated, I spent weeks looking for this watch). With the help of Connor I ordered it as quickly as I could and less than a week later it was on my wrist
The watch is fantastic. Its a very thin watch and has an odd case finishing that is 40% dress 60% sport. It comes with a leather strap and a really nice bracelet that looks kind of like a Royal Oak bracelet. Very unique.
The reason this was a dream watch of mine was because I was enamored with the dial and it did not disappoint. Its incredible. As far as salmon dials go it is more on the pinkish side (rather than copper, rose or orange) and has a guilloche pattern that is precisely cut and matches the theme perfectly. There is something radiant about the dial and it is really captivating.
There is one minor issue with it and it's pretty common with all Nova's I'm told, the case finishing between the lugs is sharp and because the strap holes are so close to the case can scratch your straps. Be wary of this before installing your favorite thick strap on this watch. See if it is sharp and if so I'm told you can make or buy a curved spring bar that will fix the issue. Or just wear it on the really nice bracelet.
One last thing to note, Serious Watches is a great company. I'm a nobody, never bought a watch from them and I received a level of service from them that rarely even see from ADs and boutiques. I ordered this watch on Sunday and it was on my wrist Thursday. That is really fast from the Netherlands to Kentucky USA. The watch came gift wrapped with a bow on top and I actually felt bad to tear into it; they did a really nice job.
I will buy again from, and would recommend to anyone, Serious Watches.
I always liked the look of the Swordfish, but the original 42mm version wears big, and was oversized on my 17cm (6.75in) wrist. The Swordfish 40 resolves that. Zelos also finally got the bracelet clasp right; that said, I think the meteorite/old radium colorway looks better on a strap. Pictured is a brown Horween leather strap that came with an older version of the Mako (another very tasty fish). My pal, Junior (pictured), is a real watch snob, but he totally digs the Swordfish 40 too. On a scale from Bogus to Excellent, the Swordfish 40 scores a Most Triumphant!
