Orient RA-AR0003L
I've had an eye on this watch since it was released because it was unique in the Orient range, but the price always felt too high for me. Then I noticed SW have it in stock for an amazing price, so I finally bought it.
Pros:
- The details on the dial are amazing. The polished and grooved indices and the hands that are half brushed and half polished aren't something I would expect at this price point.
- The case is beautifully curved with chamfered lugs, which make it look quite expensive.
- The dial is very dynamic and looks pretty much black in low light and dark sunburst blue when well lit.
- The clasp is very thin, so it doesn't get in the way.
- The bracelet uses standard friction pins which makes it easy to resize and doesn't require any maintenance unlike screws, which seem to be all the hype these days.
- There are no sharp edges anywhere on the watch. I would expect this to be the standard, but some microbrands proved me wrong.
- A fun detail is that if the lume on the hands is well charged, it illuminates the open heart when the hands are over it.
Cons:
- When the watch arrived, the end links were rattling so I had to tighten them with pliers.
- The bracelet is squeaky, which is to be expected with Orient.
- There are only 2 micro adjustment holes on the clasp so it might not fit perfectly.
- The 8 and 9 o'clock indices aren't properly aligned, cannot deny Orient's relationship with Seiko.
- Typical Orient noisy self-winding mechanism.
As for the buying experience, it was amazing as always, great packaging, quick delivery, outstanding customer service.
